This Week’s Fallout: Jake Tapper’s Book & the Blowback
Media Hype, CNN, Kimmel Cancels...Let's Chat About It
Change of plans.
I wanted to hint at three topics for this week’s Friday Fallout (by the way, we’re moving to 1pm ET today), but I’m chomping at the bit to discuss one topic in particular. The buzzy Jake Tapper and the “Original Sin” backlash.
Tapper and CNN are getting grief over the book. The journalist says it’s not a takedown of Biden, however the subtitle says otherwise. Here’s that subtitle: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again. What do you think?
Hold that thought. Keep it for the chat.
I jumped on TikTok last night for an impromptu live. A number of people online we're asking about the negativity surrounding this book. So, let’s chat about it today.
Disclaimer: I'm twelve chapters in and I love this book. If you work in strategic communications, how could you not?!?
Today at 1pm, I'm breaking it down on Substack:
The backlash Tapper and CNN likely didn’t see coming.
What this book says about media ethics in a crisis.
Jimmy Kimmel canceling an entire episode rather than interview Tapper.
You don’t need to agree with the book or like/hate Tapper and/or CNN for the chat.
➡️ Join us today on Substack at 1 PM ET
You don't need to be a member to watch the conversation, but you do need to be subscribed to my PR Breakdown membership to participate and chat.
See you soon,
